Engaging community with bells
Virginia Art Festival traveling interactive carillon
A 23-bell mobile carillon built by Verdin, created from a matched set of bells cast for a Tennessee college early in the 20th century, serves as a rolling ambassador for the Virginia Arts Festival. It is both a musical instrument and exquisite piece of sculptural art — playable by the most gifted carillioneurs and inquisitive children alike.
“WE WERE LOOKING FOR WAYS FOR THE FESTIVAL TO BE MORE PRESENT IN THE COMMUNITY.”
– ROB CROSS, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, VIRGINIA ARTS FESTIVAL
“ALL OF OUR PROJECTS INVOLVE A DEGREE OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, ARTISTRY AND TECHNICAL INNOVATION, BUT SPINNRADL SETS THE BAR ON ALL FRONTS.”
– SCOTT CONSTABLE, SPINNRADL ARTIST/DESIGNER, WOWHAUS
“IT’S SO EXCITING THAT THE CONCEPT WE PUT ON A PIECE OF PAPER COMES TO LIFE. NOT ONLY TO SEE IT BUT TO HEAR IT.”
– KERMIT JUNKERT, MANAGER OF MUSIC & ARTS, THE VERDIN COMPANY
Unveiling of the Kitchener Glockenspiel for Oktoberfest 2015 after many years of it being in disrepair. It was refurbished, upgraded and reinstalled by Verdin. A great historical piece in Kitchener Ontario! Watch more about the Kitchener glockenspiel restoration project.
