Engaging community with bells

Virginia Art Festival traveling interactive carillon

A 23-bell mobile carillon built by Verdin, created from a matched set of bells cast for a Tennessee college early in the 20th century, serves as a rolling ambassador for the Virginia Arts Festival. It is both a musical instrument and exquisite piece of sculptural art — playable by the most gifted carillioneurs and inquisitive children alike.

A multi-sensory, interactive musical sculpture

ArtWorks Cincinnati project, Historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood

Extensive community engagement informed elements of the design of this artwork. Measuring 14’ high, two interactive, kinetic sculptures combine large music box elements with radial Moire animations of a pulsing star, each powered by a hand crank.

Centerpiece of new riverfront park

GIANT FOOT PIANO CHIME

Smale Riverfront Park, Cincinnati

Check out some fancy footwork on Verdin’s Smale Riverfront Park giant outdoor piano. Verdin designed, engineered, built and installed the foot piano at Smale Riverfront Park’s P&G Go VibrantScape in Cincinnati. This 19 foot long outdoor piano has 32 keys and chimes. It is the only foot piano of its kind in the world.
