A historic landmark for your special event

In 1981, Verdin, America’s oldest bell and clock company, purchased the historic St. Paul’s Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. Built in 1850, St. Paul’s had been decommissioned in 1975 and stood empty for six years. When The Verdin Company bought the building it was in extreme disrepair: the restoration work climbed to $1.5 million. After the two-year work was completed, the building housed The Verdin Company corporate headquarters and the Verdin Bell and Clock Museum.

The Verdin Company was started in 1842 in Cincinnati, and has been guided by six generations of Verdins. During these years the company collected a trove of historic items associated with the bell and clock business. The Bell Event Center, located in the recently restored Old St. Paul’s Church, was a natural way to present the collections to the public.

“THE NOSTALGIA OF A PUBLIC CLOCK IS GOOD FOR THE COMMUNITY. A CLOCK IS VERY MUCH LIKE A BUILDING. THERE’S A CONSTANCY TO IT. BUSINESSES COME AND GO AND THINGS CHANGE, BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT ANCHORS THE NEIGHBORHOOD.”
