On September 11, 2006, an independent commission was convened with the sole purpose of defining this future for our veterans. The Commission on the Future for America's Veterans was created by The Veterans Coalition, a nonprofit organization founded by the five largest veterans service organizations in the U.S. Their purpose is to create a plan that meets future needs of veterans for benefits and services, ensures the quality of life for 21st century veterans and creates a realistic blueprint for action. The Commission receives financial support from grant making organizations, private sector partners, associations and individuals. It accepts no funding from government sources.
The Veterans Tribute Tower, designed and built by The Verdin Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, stands as a reminder that all communities need to ensure that our veterans receive the treatment they deserve. Veterans Tribute Towers are planned for communities all over America establishing permanent settings where people can gather to honor veterans. For each tower installed, The Verdin Company will donate directly to the Commission.
Veterans Tribute Towers stand as a lasting tribute to honor the past of America's veterans, as a salute to our present veterans, and to inspire the future for all veterans.

Green Township Community to Honor Past, Present and Future Military Heroes and Help Cast Bell for Veterans Tribute Tower
Throughout the next two weekends prior to Veterans Day, the Green Township community will celebrate the arrival, installation and bell casting of the State’s First Veterans Tribute Tower. The tower is part of the Township’s Veterans Park, which is located at 6303 Harrison Avenue. The Tribute Tower honors the men and women who serve or have served our country in the U.S. Armed Forces.
“Green Township has a deep tradition in honoring our Veterans,” explained Green Township Trustees Chairman Tracy Winkler. “This is a gratifying experience to know that we will have a permanent, lasting tribute to those that made and continue to make sacrifices for each and every one of us each day.”
Green Township Schedule of Events:
Veterans Tribute Tower celebration involves the entire community and includes the on-site casting of the bell. The festivities begin on Saturday, October 10th, when the Patriot Guard Riders will escort the tower as it travels from Verdin’s manufacturing facility on Riverside Drive to Green Township. Residents are encouraged to line the route as the Green Twp. Community welcomes the Tribute Tower at 12 noon.
On Friday, October 16, the Green Township community will take part in a “ingot brigade,” loading 500 pounds of bronze ingots into the 2200 degree furnace at 12:00 noon. The bell will be poured at 6:00 p.m. using its one-of-a-kind “Bell Foundry on Wheels,” a special on-site casting process.
“This bell will be a voice for the Green Township community in their tributes to honor past, current and future veterans,” added Green Township Trustees Vice Chairman David Linnenberg.
On Saturday, October 17, the Green Township community will watch as the bell mold is broken at 12:00 noon by the Green Township Trustees, other local dignitaries, Veterans and guests, using a large sledgehammer to expose the customized bronze bell. The unveiling of the polished bronze bell will be at 6:00 p.m.
A formal dedication of the Green Township Veterans Tribute Tower will begin at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day, (Wednesday, November 11, 2009). The Veterans Tribute Tower is made possible by community donations and the Green Township Trustees.
The Veterans Tribute Towers are built by the Verdin Company of Cincinnati, Ohio.
“It stands as a reminder that all communities need to ensure that our veterans receive the treatment they deserve,” said Jim Verdin, president of The Verdin Company. “It's also an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to veterans in honor of their selfless service to our nation.”
